Documentary photographer Sarah Blesener leads a walkthrough of her award-winning exhibition, Beckon Us from Home. This intimate dive into the work and subjects will be followed by an artist talk in which Blesener will give more compelling insights into her ongoing project. Reception to follow.

Bio
Sarah Blesener is a documentary photographer based in New York City. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, she studied Linguistics and Youth Development at North Central University. Upon graduation in 2012, she studied at Bookvar Russian Academy in Minneapolis, concentrating on the Russian language. Blesener is a graduate of the Visual Journalism and Documentary Practice program at the International Center of Photography in New York. Her latest work revolves around youth movements and culture in Russia, Eastern Europe, and the United States. Blesener is a recipient of the Alexia Foundation grant, and was a 2017 CatchLight fellow, working with Reveal from The Center for Investigative Reporting. Blesener is the 2018 recipient of the W. Eugene Smith Memorial Fund Fellowship and was recently awarded first place in the World Press Photo Awards Long Term Project category. She is one of Anastasia Photo’s Emerging Photographers.
