About Teen Academy Imagemakers
ICP Teen Academy welcomes teenagers ages 14–19 from across the United States and around the world to develop their skills as visual storytellers and changemakers in a diverse range of in-person and online courses. The program is designed to cultivate visual literacy, personal vision, and leadership skills through courses focused on the techniques and histories of photography and visual culture.
This exhibition features work created by students in the 2022-2023 Teen Academy Imagemakers yearlong program. This weekly after-school program enables motivated high school juniors, seniors, and gap-year students to advance their photography, writing, and public speaking skills while developing an awareness of the creative and professional possibilities in the field. The images and texts celebrate the unique perspective of each student and give collective meaning to photography and storytelling as mediums of empowerment and social change.
